is a good practice for adults and children. Kids will pay more attention at Mass because they will have a better understanding of the message being proclaimed. Parents can highlight points to listen for.  Adults will have time to consider 'how are these readings tied together?' 'What might the Lord be asking of me through these readings' and 'how will this message help me to celebrate the Mass better today?' Also, if for some reason you have to leave or are distracted during the readings, you can quickly refocus when you return.
